Tonight's Big Matchups 04/19

Pittsburgh Penguins @ Boston Bruins (7:00pm ET): With the city of Boston on virtual lockdown at the moment, it's not known whether the game will go forward, be postponed, or ultimately be cancelled. The assumption is that the NHL is looking at all possible options because they don't want to cancel the game. I'll update as more is known closer to game time. UPDATE: The NHL has postponed this game until tomorrow, while the Pittsburgh/Buffalo game scheduled for tomorrow has been moved to Tuesday.

New York Rangers @ Buffalo Sabres (7:00pm ET): This game is absolutely crucial for both teams. If the Rangers win, then the Sabres can all but kiss their season goodbye. The Sabres have been good defensively in their late season charge, only allowing 3 goals in the last 3 games, all wins. The Rangers destroyed Florida yesterday 6-1, but traveled overnight and are playing the second half of a back to back. Prediction: 3-2 Sabres.

Dallas Stars @ St. Louis Blues (8:00pm ET): This one may be just as crucial for the Stars as the earlier game is for the Sabres. The Stars sit only 2 points back of Columbus for 8th in the West after a huge win last night, and they will need to make the most of their games in hand to take control of their own destiny in the playoff race. For St. Louis, goalie Brian Elliot has been on top of his game lately, helping the Blues to a 8-2 record in their last 10. Prediction: 3-1 Blues.

Edmonton Oilers @ Colorado Avalanche (9:00pm ET): Honestly this game means nothing for either of these teams, as both sit far from the playoff picture. But any game featuring two teams with nothing to play for usually means one of two things: tons of goals, or tons of fights. Either way, it's probably going to be some entertaining, if unspectacular, hockey. Prediction: 5-3 Avs.

Thanks for reading! I would love to hear your predictions for the games tonight. Here's your gif of the night, a linesman at the Rangers/Panthers game stopping Mats "The Norwegian Hobbit" Zuccarello from making a huge mistake:
