Tonight's Big Matchups 04/16

There's a lot of people around the world looking for some escapism right now, why not a good hockey game? Here's a look at some of the big matchups tonight around the NHL:

Florida Panthers @ New York Islanders: The Islanders have picked up points in their last 7 games, as they continue their unlikely push towards the playoffs. A win tonight and they move past Ottawa into the number 6 seed in the East. The Panthers meanwhile are dead last in the league and seem to be doing all they can to Suck for Seth. Though the Isles haven't been great at home, the Cats are even worse on the road. Prediction: 3-0 Isles

Toronto Maple Leafs @ Washington Capitals: This game will showcase two of the hottest teams in the league going head to head. Phil Kessel has 8 points in his last 4 games, while Alex Ovechkin has 9 points in his last 5. Both teams are relatively secure in their playoff chances so look for this one to be a wide open and entertianing game. Prediction: 4-3 Caps.

Carolina Hurricanes @ Ottawa Senators: This must be a tough one for the Sens, after being in Boston yesterday, having the game postponed, and then returning to Ottawa to face the Canes tonight. Currently the Sens only hold a 4 point cushion over Winnipeg in 9th place, so points are huge for them. The Canes have only won 2 of their last 16 so...Prediction: 3-1 Sens

New York Rangers @ Philadelphia Flyers: It's always a good battle between these divisional rivals. The Rangers have been hot and cold lately, sitting only 2 points behind the Sens and 2 points ahead of the Jets in the East. The Flyers meanwhile have been having just an awful season and are all but eliminated at this point. The Rangers won the last meeting between these two teams 5-2. Prediction: 2-1 Flyers.

Vancouver Canucks @ St. Louis Blues: The Canuck's top guns flashed their skill last night against Nashville, with Ryan Kesler, Derek Roy and the Sedins all picking up 2 points each while eliminating the Preds. The Blues meanwhile have just followed up a 6 game winning streak with a 2 game losing streak and need to turn it around fast, as they have sunk to just a single point above the playoff line. Prediction: 3-2 Blues

That's all for today folks. Please comment about who you think will win tonight's games, and feel free to share if you like the content here at WAAP. Your daily gif: some yoga at the Sharks/Coyotes game.
