Tonight's Big Matchups 04/17
Montreal Canadiens @ Pittsburgh Penguins (7:00pm ET): This game between the top two seeds in the East looks to be a good one. For the Habs, starting goalie Carey Price has been pulled in two straight games which they lost by a combined score of 12-4. The Pens meanwhile continue to roll, even without Malkin and Crosby in the lineup, picking up 4 straight wins. It seems about 50/50 that Geno gets back into the lineup tonight. Prediction: 5-2 Pens
Buffalo Sabres @ Boston Bruins (7:30pm ET) It promises to be an emotional night with the B's playing their first game back in Boston since the attack at the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Look for Marchand and Bergeron to return to the lineup and provide an emotional boost as well. Additionally the Bruins can clinch a sixth straight playoff appearance with a single point. With respect to the Sabres, this one is all about Boston. Prediction: 4-1 Bruins
Detroit Red Wings @ Calgary Flames (9:30pm ET): After some internal meetings, the Flames have been showing more fight to end a season of disappointment and may be playing themselves out of the race for the first overall pick. For Detroit, they continue to struggle and grasp for points in an attempt to make the playoffs. Calgary has won the season series already, going 2-0 against the Wings with a +6 goal differential in those games. Prediction: 2-1 Wings
Columbus Blue Jackets @ Anaheim Ducks (10:00pm ET): The Ducks have hit a bit of a speed bump lately, scoring only 4 goals while going 1-2-0 in their last 3. They continue to lead the Pacific, but need to pick up the pace in time for the playoffs. Columbus continues to roll towards their second ever playoff berth thanks to starting goalie and MVP candidate Sergei Bobrovsky, who has only allowed more than 2 goals twice since March 28th. Prediction: 3-2 Jackets.
