Ottawa Senators @ Pittsburgh Penguins (7:30pm ET)
TV: CBC, RDS, NBCSN
Series 1-0
The Senators are going to need to tighten up defensively and stay out of the box if they hope to get a split in the series before going back to Ottawa. In game one, the teams were fairly even five on five, but that Penguins power play is just deadly. Operating at 36% efficiency thus far in the playoffs,
Pittsburgh potted two plus a shorthanded goal in game one on Tuesday night. Craig Anderson gets the start for Ottawa and he will have to be better than game one in which he allowed more than three goals for the first time this post-season. It looks as though the Penguins will be riding the hot hand and starting Tomas Vokoun again in net. Vokoun has been good in relief of Marc-Andre Fleury in these playoffs, but coach Dan Bylsma won't hesitate to pull the former in place of the latter if he needs to. In injury news, Sens defenseman Eric Gryba left game one and is considered day to day while Patrick Wiercioch is still out. Ottawa's star center Jason Spezza continues to inch his way towards playing, but it won't be tonight. Prediction: 4-2 Pens.
Only one game tonight in the NHL playoffs, so all eyes will be on this one. I figured for tonight's gif, since we're now into the semi-final round of the IIHF World Championships, you should all check out the goal that eliminated Canada in a shootout against Sweden. Don't see many slappers on penalty shots, but this one was a beauty:
