- As it turns out, the Rangers didn't need Brad Richards after all, as Chris Kreidier was the hero in overtime for New York last night. Boston had 2-0 and 3-2 leads during the game, but the Rangers kept fighting back, scoring with ten minutes to go in the third to tie it and finally getting the winner on Kreiders' first of the playoffs at 7:03 of OT. It was a great first step for the Rangers to get back into the series, though they are still down 3-1 and heading back to Boston for game five tomorrow.
- It must have been a shocking result for Chicago fans, as the Blackhawks were shutout for the first time all season by Detroit last night. Jakub Kindl scored his first career playoff goal and Dan Cleary added an empty netter in a 2-0 victory. Jimmy Howard made several outstanding saves and finished with 28 on the night for the shutout. The Wings now lead the best of seven series 3-1 over the President's Trophy winners, who have also lost three in a row for the first time all season. Detroit can close out the series tomorrow night in Chicago.
- King's goalie Jonathan Quick is showing why he earned the Conn Smythe trophy last year, picking up his third shutout of the 2013 post-season in a 3-0 victory over San Jose last night. Anze Kopitar's second goal of the playoffs was the game winner, while Slava Voynov and Jeff Carter added insurance markers in the third period. It's no surprise that two of the best home teams in hockey have won each game of this series on home ice, which should be some solace for the Shakrs as they head back to San Jose down 3-2.
- The Colorado Avalanche have finally made it official, Patrick Roy will be the new head coach of the team. Roy will also serve as vice-president of hockey operations and will work along side Joe Sakic making personnel decisions for the club. This all may be nothing more than a desperate attempt to reclaim the glory days of the franchise, but with these two at the helm it just might work too.
