Morning Snapshots 28/05

Via: espn.com

  • The Red Wings entered the third period last night against Chicago with a 2-1 lead and a chance to eliminate the President's Trophy winners. Instead the Blackhawks scored three in the third, including a penalty shot goal by Michael Frolik which turned out to be the game winner in a 4-3 victory. Frolik is the only player in NHL history with two career penalty shot goals in the playoffs. Chicago will now look to make the comeback complete in game seven at home on Wednesday.
  • Since being eliminated in the playoffs, there has been much speculation about the future of Senator's captain Daniel Alfredsson. Apparently the 40 year old is confident he still has what it takes to compete physically in the NHL, but wants to take his time before deciding whether to return next season or not. The biggest factor may be Alfredsson's intense desire for a Stanley Cup, something he hasn't been able to accomplish in his 17 season career.
  • According to TSN's Darren Dreger, the ownership saga in Phoenix may be coming to an end. A deal between the league and the Gosbee Entertainment Group seems to have been agreed upon, with meetings to finalize the details coming in the following weeks. Good news for the Coyotes and their fans if true, however we've all be down this road before.
Just a quick snapshots this morning, with only one game last night and not much news around the league. However, I realize I am indebted to you readers after not posting very often the past few days, so I'd like to offer this gif as a humble payment. Since I talked about Frolik's penalty shot so much, I would be remiss if I did not show it to you!
