Tonight's Playoff Match-up 28/05
San Jose Sharks @ Los Angeles Kings (9:00pm ET)
TV: TSN, RDS, NBCSN
Series: 3-3
The fact that each game of this series has been won by the home team is hardly a surprise, and certainly good news for the Kings when they play in the Staples Center tonight. Not so good for the Kings: they've lost three of their last four to San Jose and allowed the Sharks to force this game seven tonight. The penultimate game of any playoff series is always intense, and players on both sides are familiar with the pressure and what it will take to win tonight. Jonathan Quick has been outstanding in goal for the Kings and proved that his magical run from last post-season was no fluke. However Antti Niemi has been more than his equal so far, allowing only five goals in the last four games to pull San Jose back into the series. Expect another low scoring, tight affair tonight, as the teams have combined for more than three goals only once this series. On the injury front, Martin Havlat is questionable for the Sharks, while Jarett Stoll remains out of the lineup for the Kings. Prediction: 2-1 (OT) Kings.
That's it, just one match for tonight, as the first Western Conference finalist will be determined in this game. Though likely to again be low scoring, I'd wager it's going to be some great hockey. With game seven between the Red Wings and Blackhawks on for tomorrow, I thought I'd share this gif with you. Pavel Datsyuk, not normally known for his hard hitting, absolutely nails Chicago captain Jonathan Toews. I'm guessing Toews was not expecting this one at all:
